If this blog is about anything, it’s about testing claims by making arguments one may not agree with. Or maybe not. I’m rather fond of the original Roman Catholic meaning: he who resists the beatification of the unworthy.

I learned most of what I know about scepticism while serving as editor of this newspaper. Despite the determined efforts of my numerous detractors, it’s still my day job.

Needless to say, I speak for myself on this blog and not for my employer. All views you’ll find expressed here — except for those in comments — are my own. So if I say something that puts your nose out of joint, take it out on me and leave my publisher out of it. JB
